A Vision for 2020: Achieve Equity in Education

The following statement was prepared by Save Our Schools in the context of the 2020 Summit. It is intended to contribute to the ongoing public dialogue about the priorities in school education in Australia.

Media Release 1 April 2008 – Common Sense on Lyons, Please!

Save Our Schools today issued a plea to the Minister for Education, Andrew Barr, to display some common sense in the renovation of Lyons primary school.

Report Shows Stanhope Govt. Fails on Education

Save Our Schools said today that the report on student performance in the ACT by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is a devastating indictment of the performance of the Stanhope Government in education.

Stanhope Government has Fostered the Drift to Private Schools

Save Our Schools today accused the Stanhope Government of actively promoting the drift of enrolments to private schools.

Media Release 21 March 2008- School Closures Fail to Stem Drift to Private Schools

Save Our Schools says that the new ACT School Census figures show that the Stanhope Government’s school closure plan has failed to stem the drift to private schools in the ACT.

Razor Gang Should Review Over-Funding of Private Schools

Save Our Schools, a public education advocacy group, has called on the Rudd Government to include private school over-funding in its review of Federal Government expenditure.
