Save Our Schools has accused the Tasmanian Greens Minister for Education, Nick McKim, of breaching his own Education Act and making a sham of consultation on school closures. The public education group, Save Our Schools, today called for like school comparisons to be scrapped. National Convenor of SOS, Trevor Cobbold, said that ‘like school’ comparisons on My School 2.0 will be biased against low socio-economic status (SES) government and private schools.
A new report published today by the advocacy group Save Our Schools says that government schools are badly under-resourced in comparison to private schools to deal with education disadvantage. It calls for an investment of $6 – $9 billion a year in government schools to reduce large achievement gaps between rich and poor. A research brief published by the public education group, Save Our Schools, says that Labor and Liberal claims that teacher bonuses will improve student achievement is not supported by research evidence.
SOS National Convenor, Trevor Cobbold, said that the proposed bonuses will be a huge waste of money and encourage more teaching to the test in schools.
Labor’s $100 000 reward for schools which most improve their results will encourage them to cheat and rort their results, poach high achieving students from each other and discriminate against other students says Save Our Schools, a public education advocacy group.

Save Our Schools has warned that the administrative guidelines for NAPLAN provide loopholes for schools to rort their results by excluding lower achieving students.
